Hair

Lips

Firstly the biggest mistake that people make with regard to dry lips is to apply liberal amounts of lip balm. In fact, the biggest cause of dry lips is dehydration - which is pretty obvious when you think about it. Your lips are one of the areas most sensitive to lack of water and will let you know it. Simply pour yourself a tall glass of water and you should notice the difference straight away! To maintain your freshly moisturised lips or to protect from cold weather, apply a layer of Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm (£8.00).

Complexion

Let's be honest, unless you've just come back from the Winter Sun or the slopes of Klosters you're probably looking a little pale. Natural Deodorants

Over the last few years there has been much concern about the use of modern under-arm deodorants and possible links with cancer. Research has shown that high levels of aluminium, an ingredient found in most modern deodorants, have been found in the breast tissue of cancer patients.

There is no documented evidence to suggest that modern deodorants are in any way connected to cancer, however, it is perhaps something to be aware of and I too have questioned the need for such products.

I have for many, many years used a spray-on aerosol product and like most modern anti-perspirants, it works by plugging the sweat ducts in the arm pit. Now, even if you're not into natural products, surely commonsense would suggest that stopping sweat from being released from the body can't really be a good thing. Plus they generally contain chemically based fragrances which can play havoc with the balance of the skin too!


This being said, I have been somewhat reluctant to move towards a natural alternative. After all, I don't want to smell and I'm sure I'm not alone in that... needless to say those that I work closely with are probably of a similar mind.

Taking the step towards a natural deodorant seemed like a risky business.

Looking into the subject, natural deodorants work in a very different way to the likes of Sure, Right Guard, Dove etc, in that the product allows the body to sweat. Now, this had me worried, but I had no need. Apparently, it's not the sweat that smells, it's the bacteria that breaks it down. By using various natural ingredients, the bacteria is halted in its tracks and cannot thrive in the area, thus stopping nasty niffs.

So all that seemed fair and for goodness sake, I work for a company that sells the best natural products, so really at best I was being cowardly, at worst a complete hypocrite. So the decision was made.

We retail several products that promise to do the trick and of course I had to work out which one would be best for me:

All of which seemed viable options. I chose the first, Plante System Purete Deodorant Spray, primarily because the Plante System brand is organic (in for a penny in for a pound) and secondly I prefer a spray to a roll on or stick.

I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed, the Purete Deodorant has a lovely Eucalyptus fragance which not only smells fresh but is cooling to the skin. I certainly wasn't aware that my arm pits were suddenly awash with perspiration and I remained fresh through out the day.

I've continued using the product for several weeks now, with plenty of exhertion which was bound to put the product to the test, but I am seriously happy with the results. I'd certainly recommend that everyone jumps ship away from chemicals, Aluminium ingredients and the process of allowing to the body to naturally perspire!
